River Fowey from Bodmin parkway
The No 11 bus is an hourly service from Plymouth to Bodmin Parkway railway station. The bus journey takes one and a quarter hours as it winds through Cornish countryside. If this seems too long for you, you could catch the train that only takes 40 minutes.
From the station walk through the red gate and down a slight incline and under a railway bridge then follow the path along parallel to the River Fowey. This is a very good path and it is quiet and peaceful with lots of bird song and wild flowers along the way. When you come to Respryn Bridge walk through the car park and then across the bridge to the path along the river on the other side. There are two paths, one an accessible one and the other close to the river bank that is rough in places. If you are doing this walk in March you will see the wild daffodils along both paths. In late April or May there are lots of bluebells in the area.
After about half an hour of walking you come to a bridge over the river which leads into woods, You can either continue walking along the river and you will eventually come to Lostwithiel, or walk through the woods and up to Lanhydrock House. This is an uphill walk but very pretty when the bluebells are in flower. Unless you want to walk on to Lostwithiel railway station you have to turn around at some point and retrace your steps back to Bodmin Parkway.
